The Senior Engineer, Performance Engineering, serves as an engineer responsible for independently delivering complex performance engineering analyses and operational solutions. This role demonstrates ownership of projects, sound engineering judgment, and influence across the Operations and Customer Center, Flight Operations, IT, and Commercial partners.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct independent surveillance of aircraft operating environments and aircraft performance data to ensure operational integrity and optimize aircraft capability.Interpret and apply manufacturer performance manuals and tools; adapt methodologies to operational systems.Lead medium-complexity engineering studies supporting aircraft deployment, route development, and fuel-burn optimization.Monitor aircraft and engine performance trends and recommend mitigations for performance-constrained spanets.Develop, maintain, and improve engineering policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure regulatory compliance and consistency.Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and contribute peer review of engineering outputs.Represent Performance Engineering in cross-divisional forums and selected industry working groups.Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all analytical and operational activities.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications) Minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience.Demonstrated proficiency with engineering analysis, technical writing, and MS Office tools.Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet operational deadlines.Ability to read, interpret, and generate detailed technical and engineering documentation.Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.Operates with limited supervision, receiving guidance primarily on unusual or complex problems. Independently selects methods and techniques, proposes feasible alternatives, and communicates status and risks proactively to leadership.(Internal applicants) Must be performing satisfactorily in current role.Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications) Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Aeronautical or Aerospace preferred).Experience with airline flight operations, performance engineering, dispatch, and FAR 121 regulatory environments.Familiarity with aircraft performance software, flight planning systems, and data analysis tools.Programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python, Fortran, VB.NET).Comfort with data analytics.
