Edison Works, the military business unit of GE Aerospace, is on the front line of developing advanced technology to support our nation’s defense. The Advanced Engine Design (AED) program is responsible for maturing and implementing adaptive engine technology that will revolutionize large military engine propulsion. This role is an Engine Systems Design Integration (ESDI) position.Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. It encompasses all activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the end-users needs. This Engine Systems Integration role will execute a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities
Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability.
Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down.
Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing.
Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams.
Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in an engineering position
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with Engine Systems Engineering
Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship

Desired CharacteristicsDemonstrated expertise in military jet engine design, specifically External component design and system design, including the testing, and certification of this hardware
Active US Government Security Clearance
Experience with finite element analysis using Ansys, Nastran, or equivalent
Expertise with NX software or equivalent CAD software
Certification in or background with Material Review Board (MRB) engineering support
Experience working with DoD customer and processes
Experience working in DoD EVM projects, established project management skills
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
Strong oral and written communication skills
