As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will be part of GE Aerospace’s Advanced Design Tools organization. You will lead development of analysis and simulation software for mechanical design of Fan & Compressor Airfoils which are key to engine performance. In this role, you will conceptualize and develop software tools for Mechanical Airfoil design and analysis, understand complex behavior of blades and collaborate with design engineers to deliver advanced design tools.
Role responsibilities include leading and developing physics-based tools to solve some of the challenging design needs for next gen engines. The role demands close collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams and GE Aerospace’s design boards to develop innovative physics-based software solutions. You will also be mentoring new designers during design phase beyond tool capabilities. In addition to leading these programs, you will also play a key role in defining and operationalizing strategic roadmap for next gen engines.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
In this role, you will report to Subsection Manager of Airfoil & Nacelle Design Tools Subsection at GE Aerospace, JFWTC, Bangalore. Your responsibilities will include:
Lead & guide project team in mechanical airfoil design tools and methods development and be responsible for delivery and quality of these tools.
Collaborate with Mechanical Airfoil design teams and be responsible for requirements, development, and adoption of these tools.
Contribute to methodology development and implement best practices in design tools to drive standardization.
Provide solutions to develop solid modeling and simulation modeling of new blade configurations.
Lead and own Mechanical Airfoil design tools & methods team’s delivery schedule adhering to tollgate processes followed within GE Aerospace.
Drive rigor in SDLC process for Tools development and release (Code update, Integration, Compilation, Testing, Validation, TG review and Release).
Collaborate with design teams, technical experts, and stakeholders for short term and long-term (roadmap) technological advancement of tools.
Champion awareness of tools and lead efforts for reuse, collaboration, and consolidation.
Mentor team members and new joiners in tool development, Airfoil design and analysis.
Qualification/Requirements
Should have more than 10 years of experience with master’s degree in mechanical engineering domain from an accredited university or college.
Strong understanding of structural analysis physics, simulation, and geometry.
Demonstrated experience in leading and developing software solutions using NX, C++.
Experience in mechanical/structural analysis (Static, Vibrations, Impact etc.).
Strong knowledge of NX-Modeling/NX-Simulation and ANSYS APDL.
Established project management skills.
Exposure to SDLC processes and experience in deploying customized tools to users.
Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
Ability to work in a global cross-functional environment with strong communication and presentation skills.
Clear thinker and effective problem solver.
