Senior Industrial Engineering Specialist is responsible for leading complex engineering initiatives associated with manufacturing processes, driving strategic improvements, and mentoring teams in the application of advanced lean principles. This role requires a high level of autonomy, technical expertise, and leadership to deliver results aligned with GE Aerospaces priorities of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC). The position involves influencing cross-functional teams, managing high-impact projects, and ensuring operational excellence.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead large-scale, cross-functional projects related to factory buildings, equipment upgrades, layout optimization, and process improvements.
  • Develop and execute long-term strategies for manufacturing excellence, aligning with organizational goals and lean principles.
  • Serve as a key advisor to leadership on industrial engineering best practices and emerging trends.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in lean methodologies, including Kaizen, Hoshin Kanri, Standard Work, and other advanced tools.
  • Drive the implementation of lean principles across teams and processes.
  • Identify and eliminate waste, optimize workflows, and establish pull systems to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Analyze complex manufacturing processes and propose innovative solutions to address technical challenges.
  • Develop advanced models for production planning, material flow, and resource allocation.
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to improve key performance metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost).
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers and cross-functional teams in industrial engineering methods and lean principles.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across the organization.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to build technical and leadership capabilities within the team.
  • Manage high-impact capital investment projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop detailed project plans, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, operations, and supply chain to ensure seamless execution.
  • Act as a liaison between manufacturing teams and senior leadership, ensuring alignment on priorities and goals.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers, to drive results.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in industrial engineering, lean manufacturing, or related fields, with at least 5 years of project management experience.
  • Must be able to travel domestically up to 40.
