Currently we have an opening for an engineer position to work within the Space team in Honeywell Czech Republic.
The area of research and development is the design of advanced electronics Space Systems including complex control SW.
In the role, the engineer will be asked to get acquainted with the system device principle, design SW architecture based on the mission requirements and lead the implementation activities.
In addition, the engineer is expected to participate in the development of new concepts and technologies for future space products. This will include understanding the customer requirements, translating those into device and product requirements, performing trade studies, writing research and development proposals and potentially project and team management.
Currently there are several projects targeting space and aerospace under execution. The main customers are commercial space customers, Honeywell International s.r.o. and European Space Agency.

Responsibilities
Key Tasks
- Perform design, development and testing of application software for Quantum Key Distribution in languages such as Java, Kotlin, Python, C languages
- Decompose system requirements and adapt software microservices architecture for specific missions.
- Define and implement APIs; model systems using UML.
- Support CI/CD automation (BitBucket/Git, Artifactory, Bamboo).
- Ensure timely completion of technical tasks and create documentation.
Qualifications
Must Have
- Microservices architecture – design, deployment, and orchestration for distributed systems.
- Expertise in coding: Java, Kotlin
- Knowledge of REST, gRPC, GraphQL, React.
- UML modeling and API design.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies.
- Cryptography, key management, security, distributed systems
- Good command of the English language
- Masters or Doctorate Degree SW Engineering or computer science
Nice-to-have
- ECSS Standards experience
- Familiarity with space/aerospace systems
- Expertise in Python, C languages
- Development / test environment setup
