Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Obsolescence Engineer to support our Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) team. The selected candidate will perform System and Component level Lifecycle Management Engineering activities across multiple programs in the Multi Domain Command and Control (MDC2) Product Support group in Melbourne, FL.

The candidate must have excellent inter-personal, written and verbal communication skills as well as proven leadership skills as they lead teams of engineers, logisticians, buyers, etc. in pursuing recommendations for resolution of DMSMS issues. Candidate will focus on systems affected by obsolescence issues and help coordinate activities to ensure solutions are in place to minimize or prevent impacts production or sustainment contracts. Key aspects of the position include working effectively with Procurement/ Subcontracts, Integrated Product Teams, functional organizations, external customers and Program Management to identify, analyze, address, and resolve DMSMS issues.

Essential Functions:

- Gather, collect, record, track, and verify data from multiple sources and maintain DMSMS records

- Assist Engineering groups with the selection and validation of replacement components

- Facilitate DMS resolution activities including scheduling meetings, briefings, and discussion topics; preparation of agendas and meeting minutes. Participate in working groups and ad hoc committees/meetings

- Analyze and predict production and sustainment requirements to construct strategic DMS roadmaps for end-of-life subsystems and components

- Engage with senior management and government customers to ensure coordination and integration of DMSMS resolution activities

- Work with suppliers to ensure DMSMS issues are resolved at the lowest cost while maintaining high quality and reliability

- Assist in developing program metrics for evaluating the effectiveness of DMS activities

- Collaborate with Program Managers and Contracts department in the development of Statements of Work (SOW) and Basis of Estimates (BOE) for DMSMS task scope definitions

The successful candidate must be familiar with database management, and industry standard software tools (MS Office, Visio, and SharePoint). The successful candidate must have experience performing data analysis using Excel or comparable tools. These tools will be used to perform statistical analysis with linear regression and trending and visual representations of data and results. Solid written and oral communications as well as presentation skills should be present as well, and candidate must be able to communicate their work, especially its significance and relevancy, in a clear, detailed manner.

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and at least 5 years previous experience working in an Engineering or Technical position, writing and presenting technical documentation OR Masters Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with 3 years of experience OR PhD in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with 1 year of experience.

- Understanding of Configuration Management and Component Engineering concepts and principles.

- Active DoD Secret Clearance is required prior to starting with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in a STEM field (Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing).

- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.

- Familiarity with Project Management processes and procedures.

- Experience with data mining techniques.

- Understanding of data analytics and visualization techniques.

- Familiarity with DMSMS concepts and processes.

Salary Range: $84,200 - $126,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
