Job Description SummaryThe Manufacturing Engineering Team Leader holds technical responsibility and daily line management for a Manufacturing Engineering team of approximately 8-12 employees including delivering defined projects, manufacturing cell support, and related work packages. The role provides leadership, accountability, and output against program milestones and manufacturing cell deliverables including ownership and accountability for high value business projects to deliver productivity, cost out, and capacity where required. The role also defines and executes plans for development of required skill sets within the Manufacturing Engineering team.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage the well-being, load, capacity, and execution of a team of Manufacturing Engineers of approximately 8-12 employees.
  • Exercise the recognized supervisory responsibilities relating to People, Performance, and Growth (PPG), career and professional development, recruitment, and training.
  • Actively drive for team development and growth, promote a culture of Continuous Improvement and data / analytical led decision making.
  • Develop the requirements across engineering disciplines and their relationship with other functions to deliver business and Manufacturing Engineering Team performance.
  • Drive accountability for product configuration management with manufacturing planning and processes.
  • Act as a mentor for Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Ensure full support on manufacturing cells in line with delivery commitments and lead the team to deliver validated design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment to ensure integrity of design is met.
  • Develop use of maturity and risk mitigation tools such Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) within area of responsibility. Use the data generated to drive improvement projects.
  • Be cognizant of relevant new product development toll gate reviews. Proactively assess product and processes against requirements and drive action to ensure readiness.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering team to ensure product and processes are conforming and compliant.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 7 years of experience in a Manufacturing and/or Process Engineering role)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Manufacturing and/or Process Engineering role
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens.  GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Desired Characteristics

  • 5+ years of experience in a Manufacturing and/or Process Engineering role
  • 2+ years of experience leading people in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing management
  • Knowledge of electrical power generation and power conversion equipment manufacturing processes
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Experience developing, leading, and coaching individuals
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Knowledge and experience with First Article Inspection (FAI), Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL), Manufacturing Capability Readiness Level (MCRL), Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and Lean
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
