Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lean Manufacturing and FLIGHT DECK Principles: Apply lean manufacturing principles, including standard work, continuous improvement (Kaizen), and problem-solving methodologies, to optimize processes and eliminate waste. Collaborate with teams to align with GE Aerospace’s FLIGHT DECK operating model.
  • Cost-Out Initiatives: Lead efforts to identify and implement manufacturing process improvements that reduce costs while maintaining or enhancing safety, quality, and delivery performance. Conduct feasibility studies for new processes or techniques to achieve cost savings.
  • Process Monitoring and Metrics: Monitor manufacturing process metrics, including yields, processing times, and other key performance indicators (KPIs). Use statistical techniques to proactively identify and address potential problem areas.
  • Blueprint Interpretation and Dimensional Gaging: Read and interpret blueprint drawings and utilize dimensional gaging tools to ensure product quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Fixture and Tooling Design: Design necessary fixtures and tooling for manufacturing process improvements.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects by providing scheduling, resource management, budget control, and ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards. Determine critical paths for projects and focus resources to ensure delivery on time and within budget.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Communicate project progress and challenges clearly and concisely to all involved personnel, including management teams. Operate as a self-directed team member with minimal supervision.
  • Technical Reporting: Compile data and publish technical reports for new and existing processes in the department. Train others on new drawings and specifications upon release.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support continuous process improvement through production implementation of new technologies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university (OR a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a shop manufacturing environment.
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens.  GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with 3D printing.
  • Experience in a machine shop environment, including CNC programming.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
