Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for day to day support of final test operations including troubleshooting and repair of complex test systems
- Responsible for design and construction of test facilities, instrumentation systems and the development of test software
- Developing in-depth knowledge of a power generation and conversion systems
- Will be responsible for managing small projects related to cost out and continuous improvement
- Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy
- In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area
- Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems
- May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of engineering, scientific or other technical experience)
- Plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering position related to electrical power generation systems
- This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status.
- Ability to be available for one on-call requirement per month
Desired Characteristics
- Strong troubleshooting background to the component level
- Experience with AC and DC motors and their drives
- Experience with 480V electrical systems
- Familiarity with power electronics, electric motors, and electric power conversion concepts
- Experience with high speed / high power motor and gearbox systems
- Background and understanding in aircraft power systems, including generation, conversion, distribution, and aircraft load
- Prior work experience in aerospace power generation / conversion products
- Strong interpersonal skill
- Prior project management experience
- Technical writing skills
