GE has a global service network and the site in Veresegyház, Hungary is the only spare parts repair facility in the CEE region to support GEs overhaul factories and airlines serving over 170 global customers. We are looking for a Welding Engineer to work within our Special Process Engineer group in our rapidly growing repair shop at GE Aviation Hungary. We are undergoing considerable changes to the shop and present an opportunity for You to become involved and support and help drive these changes. We offer the opportunity to work within the Aviation Repair network working at a facility that has one of the largest portfolio of Aircraft Engine platforms in Europe.

Our facility is worldwide leader in repair of the composite and metallic components from a variety of Turbofan jet engine modules.

Our FAR145 Component Repair Station is providing overhaul services to multiple GE commercial engine lines, such as GE90, GEnx, LEAP, CFM, CF34, CF6, GP and Honda.

Successful candidate is going to become technical leader and owner of respective welding area and relevant welding processes.
As Welding Engineer special process owner, You will not only be responsible to define and control repair technology of Welding, but will develop process standardization and other necessary functions ensuring process stability and reliability.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Act as Special Process Owner or delegated Special Process Owner (if current qualification does not meet necessary qualification defined by aeDMS 259.08 and local Quality procedures).
  • Improve existing repair processes at Welding area along with its continuous monitoring:
    • Rework, Process First Time Yield, Delivery and Cost metrics for exceptions and trends, define and implement corrective and improvement actions, use data for prioritization.
  • Develop new technologies on Welding process to replace conventional means.
  • Explore limits based on OEM ESM requirements and provide guidance to inspectors on the shop floor to reduce scrap and repair need.
  • Provide formal and informal training about Welding process to inspectors, operators, and engineers.
  • Exploring, defining, and taking their own LEAD on implementation of New Technologies supporting continues process improvement and current business needs.
  • Provide process EXPERT support in New Product Implementation projects challenging on existing capabilities.
  • Provide process EXPERT support to EHS department in respect to assessment of new chemical materials incorporation to repair process.
  • Being part of a local manufacturing and a global engineering team, engaging relevant stakeholders, managing by exceptions, and escalating if necessary.
  • Taking active part in production meetings and taking the LEAD on solving technical issues on their own initiative.
  • Leading, developing, and implementing all the technical enablers/projects targeting changes/Improvements (EHS/Quality/effective repair process), including industrialization efforts of the new repair solution, for the assigned processes and product impacted by this process:
    • Routings (task lists), Methods/Work Instruction, required Materials, Fixtures, Tools & Supplies, Environment, related Trainings, New Equipment, etc.
  • Proactively apply LEAN principles and tools in everyday work.
  • All other duties as assigned within the job scope.

Requirements

  • engineering / technical degree (minimum BACHELOR’s level) at area of Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science,
  • significant relevant experience in an engineering/technologist position,
  • theoretical and practical knowledge of welding process,
  • strong oral and written communication skills ENGLISH and HUNGARIAN,
  • demonstrated ability to utilize Route Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) to identify and analyze problems,
  • prior experience in area of R&D or New Product Introduction Initiatives,
  • skilled knowledge of LEAN - 6Sigma principles and tools,
  • strong interpersonal and leadership skills,
  • strong ability to effectively influence others and lead teams and project groups,
  • effective complex problem identification and solution implementation skills,
  • ability to influence others and lead small teams,
  • lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact,
  • ability to coordinate and execute own and/or assigned group projects simultaneously,
  • ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs,
  • proven analytical and data visualization skills (scorecards, metrics development),
  • proven organizational skills,
  • experience in Statistical Process Control (SPC),
  • advanced use of MS Office tools such as Excel and Word.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Qualified and experienced welding engineer,
  • Practical knowledge of industrial robot programming (preferably FANUC),
  • Experience with performing metallography,
  • has had exposure to material testing, characterization, and analysis of material data,
  • experience with the design and manufacturing of fixtures and tooling,
  • experience with mechanical cleaning (grit blasting, blending).
