Roles and Responsibilities
- Apply solid engineering principles to power electronics design, analysis, and verification activities, compliant to robust product requirements and relevant business practices.
- Provide technical leadership to ensure that power electronics activities remain on track - by identifying, communicating, and resolving significant issues or developments, in collaboration with technical and project leaders.
- Authorise detailed technical documentation consistent with engineering policies and procedures, leading and influencing project and customer reviews as required.
- Provide guidance, mentoring and coaching to other team members, and actively contribute to process improvement activities.
- Remain current in knowledge of power distribution and switching technologies.
- Capable of fulfilling small team leadership opportunities.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Relevant Engineering Degree (or equivalent), with full lifecycle domain expertise
- Significant experience of power electronics design for AC & DC power distribution
- Strong influencing, problem solving and solution building skills – including at a customer level.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex design concepts – both orally and written - and make decisions based on sound judgement.
- Demonstrable technical leadership ability in a multi-disciplined environment, along with strong interpersonal skills
- Willing to work on military platforms.
Desirable Characteristics
- Experience in power electronics design for aviation, automotive or similar safety critical applications, in an NPI environment.
- Familiarity with engineering tools including Xpedition, SIMetrix, DOORS, Windchill.
- Demonstrable application of Design for Manufacture/Test (DFM/DFT) considerations.
- Experience of coaching and mentoring.
