Job Description SummaryTSD tools and method is a critical domain for Aerospace. TSD tools framework is equipped with state-of-the-art numerical techniques and methods that provides competitive edge for performing thermal analysis. NGT is one such platform which TSD tools team developed it for GE businesses. NGT platform is an integrated framework that has a customized thermal solver with customized GUI (Graphical User Interface) used by GE engineers, for conducting mixed fidelity simulations that includes integrated Flow, Heat transfer and Mechanical analyses.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HyperMesh Customization Expert with a strong thermal engineering background to join our team. You will play a pivotal role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing our custom HyperMesh scripts and tools, specifically tailored to streamline the thermal modeling workflow for 200+ thermal engineers who utilize ANSYS for simulation. Your in-depth expertise in HyperMesh scripting languages and thermal simulation principles will be instrumental in enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across our thermal modeling processes.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement custom HyperMesh scripts and tools to

    • Design thermal model building workflow which is intuitive and ensures compliance with design practices while working collaboratively with engineering teams to enable seamless integration of HyperMesh customizations into the overall thermal simulation workflow.

    • Automate repetitive modeling tasks commonly encountered by thermal engineers.

  • Develop and implement custom HyperView post-processing tools or scripts (e.g., using Python, Journal files) to automate data visualization and result extraction tasks specific to thermal simulations (e.g., temperature contours, heat flux plots, htc’s, pressure, flows & deflection)

  • Collaborate closely with thermal engineers to understand their specific modeling needs and translate those requirements into efficient HyperMesh customizations.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve existing HyperMesh customizations to ensure optimal performance, maintainability, and adherence to software development practices followed by organization.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to thermal engineers relative to the use of custom HyperMesh tools for effectively utilizing the tool capabilities.

  • Stay up to date on the latest advancements in HyperMesh core developments and scripting relative to extending it to thermal simulation technologies and identify opportunities to further optimize our modeling processes.

  • Document and maintain clear and concise instructions for using custom HyperMesh tools, ensuring knowledge transfer and facilitating onboarding for new team members

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field (Masters degree a plus).

  • In-depth knowledge of HyperMesh scripting languages (TCL) and a strong understanding of HyperMesh automation techniques for mesh generation, geometry manipulation, load application and other relevant tasks.

  • Expertise in Python code development relative to utilizing Hypermesh core features for tool automation

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain efficient, well-documented, modular HyperMesh scripts specifically for thermal modeling workflows.

  • Solid understanding of thermal modeling concepts (e.g., heat transfer mechanisms, conduction, convection, radiation, thermal boundary conditions), meshing considerations for thermal simulations (e.g., element types, mesh density in critical heat transfer regions, adaptive mesh refinements etc.,).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with engineers from diverse technical backgrounds.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a tenacity for delivering high-quality work.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks effectively and meeting deadlines.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in GE’s thermal platform NGT

  • Experience with other meshing software (e.g., ANSYS ICEM CFD, GAMBIT) would be beneficial.

  • Familiarity with thermal modeling best practices and common challenges encountered by thermal engineers.

  • Awareness about software practices like Agile, DevOps.
