Job Description SummaryThis Design Engineer position is part of the Edison Works organization supporting R&D of supersonic and hypersonic jet engines. The Design Engineer will be an integral member of the design and manufacturing teams. Participating in all aspects including the manufacturing process, monitoring, and coordinating post-machining of manufactured hardware. The sought-after candidate has a passion for designing and participating in the manufacturing of prototype parts and the capacity to learn quickly and solve novel problems. Your eye for detail and process improvements will be needed, giving you a chance to see the latest in high-speed engine design.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Participate in design activities from proof-of-concept to final manufacturable components.
  • Design using 3D CAD and follow fundamental engineering principles.
  • Perform analyses ranging from 1D calculations to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations .
  • Prepare engineering drawings to manufacture prototypes or components of an experimental rig.
  • Work with vendors to determine best lead times and communicate regularly to ensure delivery deadlines are met. May require vendor site visits.
  • Work with Additive Manufacturing team to support machine uptime and timely processing of parts
  • Ability to attain a SECRET clearance.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Preparing engineering bills of materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office products.
  • CAD Software expert (NX, Creo, Solidworks, etc.)

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Able to attain Secret Clearance
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Knowledge of GD&T best practices

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong ability to make PowerPoints to visualize and convey designs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as strong customer interaction skills with engineers of all levels within own discipline

The base pay range for this position is $72,400 to $108,500. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.  This posting is expected to close on March 15th, 2024.
