You will be the Chief Flight Test Engineer for the F-22 and F-16 flight test programs at Edwards AFB.
We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished engineer to fill the critical role of Flight Test Chief Engineer Principal, working with our team of experts in the development and execution of flight test programs for the F-22 and F-16 aircraft.
What You Will Be Doing
As a key technical leader, you will provide strategic guidance and oversight to the Lockheed Martin flight test team, ensuring the successful demonstration of flight test milestones and the delivery of high-quality products to our customers. This is a full-time position located onsite at Edwards Air Force Base in California, where you will work closely with our customers, partners, and team members to achieve exceptional results.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Establish and maintain the technical direction and integrity of the flight test program
• Approve aircraft technical baselines, new capability introduction maturity, and associated technical plans and major technical milestones (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.)
• Ensure product development, integration, and test teams adhere to established processes to ensure the safety, security, airworthiness, and quality of customer-delivered products
• Provide technical leadership and oversight to the Lockheed Martin flight test team
• Communicate technical status and issues internally and externally
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders
• Occasional domestic travel

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) field (e.g., Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, etc.)
• Minimum 15 years of technical experience with demonstrated expertise in systems integration
• Experience working with diverse teams who lead the design, development, sustainment, and evolution of technical products
• Demonstrated ability to drive closure and resolve complex technical issues/challenges
• Demonstrated ability to develop technical talent
• Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting to executive leadership and external customers
• SECRET security clearance
Desired Skills:
• Familiarity and knowledge of Avionics Subsystems (Communications, Navigation, Identification, Infrared Search and Track, Core Processing, Electronic Warfare/Protection, Radar, and Open Systems Architecture)
• Experience with technical planning, including development of technical roadmaps and milestones
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and practices
• Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with co-located Air Force and partner contractor teams
• Experience working in a joint and integrated team environment, with a proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with government and industry partners
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, while maintaining a focus on delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Leading failure review boards (FRBs) and tracking issues to closure
• Establish and maintain the technical direction and integrity of the flight test program
• Ensure product development, integration, and test teams adhere to established processes to ensure the safety, security, airworthiness and quality of customer-delivered products

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $159,600 - $305,900. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as spanet and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $183,500 - $345,800. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
