PURPOSE: The Engineer, Principal Airframe will serve the overall airline by providing critical aircraft systems and cabin engineering solutions. This position is vital to the safety and airworthiness of our Customers and Crewmembers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for the configuration management control and reliability of assigned Structures, Airframe, Systems, Cabin, Components, including the Avionics of 737 family of aircraft.
2. Maintains compliance with applicable FAA, AD, FAR, OSHA, EPA regulations and Avelo’s Technical Operations Policy (GMM) including all engineering processes pertaining to the development of equipment alterations and repairs. Understand FAA Regulatory requirements to ensure aircraft compliance availability.
3. Acts as the champion of GMM processes and Airline operating systems.
4. Reviews incoming manufacturers service bulletins and other correspondence to determine applicability to Avelo and Avelo’s customers:
- Evaluates (including cost/benefit study) to make a retrofit or program recommendation, including the development of incorporation plan.
- Preparation of technical documentation via GMM and Boeing ICA procedures to affect the plan.
- Involves direct support for materials/PBH providers, MRO’s and MCC/Line maintenance.
5. Supports troubleshooting and provides corrective actions, including repair AOG development for assigned equipment.
6. Reviews, recommends, and implements Boeing manufacturers service bulletins and other correspondence to the Avelo affected 737 NG fleets:
- Manages Service Bulletin (S.B.) releases including NPRM notifications to support the engineering team’s requirements and operational demands.
- Reviews data and recommends changes as required to improve aircraft safety and reliability.
- Performs analysis of reliability trends and develops proactive plans to prevent reliability problems and supports implementation of corrective actions.
7. Collaborates with and maintains constant communication with manufacturers and the FAA ACO and FSDO/CMO:
- Identify FAA contacts and understand regulatory structure.
- Streamline engineering communication and Boeing connectivity requirements.
8. Supports Maintenance Programs and specifications for MRB, MPD, CMR and all other required ICA’s to ensure program compliance:
- Identifies MPD task and engineering requirements.
- Maintains all engineering originated instructions for continued airworthiness (ICA’s).
9. Creates a “One Crew” and “Do The Right Thing” mentality for Engineering across the New Airline.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree in aerospace engineering or related field required.
- 8 + years’ experience in an airline, military, OEM or MRO environment with commercial aircraft is required.
- Familiarity with airline flight operations, support systems, and FAR 121 dispatch regulations.
- Ability to work through multiple problems while prioritizing issues to manage and resolve them quickly and effectively.
- Self-initiative and ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Practices safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
- Tenacious problem solving and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Foster and develop teamwork and leadership that embraces our company’s “Purpose, Values and Vision”.
- Must be willing and able to travel as needed for Boeing, MRO Site, Vendor and/or other Airline meetings.
- Must be available for after-hours management (including weekends) of airline operational issues.
- Must possess a current and Valid US Passport.
- Must have a current and valid Driver’s License with good driving record
