The following position is to join our RTX Enterprise Services team in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico:
RTX is seeking a highly skilled Database Platform Automation Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions for our database platforms. You will work closely with our database administrators, developers, and IT teams to ensure the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of our database systems.
What You Will do
- Develop and implement automated processes for database provisioning, configuration, deployment, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with DBAs and developers to identify automation opportunities and requirements.
- Design and implement scripts, tools, and frameworks to automate database operations and workflows.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Implement and maintain database backup and recovery solutions.
- Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices in database management.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues.
- Document automation processes and procedures.
- Knowledge of integrating with work-flow automation platform (ServiceNow)
- This position will reference written work instructions for guidance with daily job activities. Work instructions are available in English only.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the financial management system due to government contractual requirements.
- Proven experience in database administration and automation.
- 3+ years of experience working with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Experience with database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Strong understanding of database performance tuning and optimization.
Qualification We Prefer
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about database infrastructure.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Certification in database administration or cloud platforms is a plus.
