StandardAero is searching for a Computer Engineer to join our Central Engineering team, with 0-5 years’ experience.
In this exciting and challenging role, you will design data acquisition and control systems for testing gas turbine engines. Testing engines is an integral part of StandardAero’s process to certify our work and to ensure that the engines are safe and reliable. StandardAero services engines from manufacturers including General Electric, Pratt and Whitney, Rolls Royce, Safran and Honeywell. To support this activity, we operate Engine Test Facilities around the globe. We provide support to our test facilities and our team has the opportunity to travel to remote sites which include several U.S. locations, Europe, and Singapore.
As a Computer Engineer you will work with part of the Central Engineering team, you will work with computer, electrical and mechanical engineers/technologists to create systems that are accurate, maintainable and easy to operator. You will be involved in every aspect of the design and implementation of these test systems including estimating, requirements gathering, technical analysis, troubleshooting, component selection/purchasing, commissioning and production support. Some travel will be required.
What you’ll do:
- Develop software for Engine Test Cell data acquisition and control using C, SQL, and LabVIEW.
- Integrate multiple data acquisition devices into a system capable of monitoring temperatures, pressures, rotational frequency, vibration, fluid flow rates, and other characteristics of a live running engine.
- Support current engine test systems by responding to test failures, implementing new feature requests, and updating due to test requirement change or strategic initiatives.
- Communicate with stakeholders, OEMs and co-workers to gather needs/wants and translate them into technical requirements.
Education Requirements:
- University degree in Computer Engineering with experience in software development, control systems, or data acquisition
Position Requirements:
- The position requires an understanding and application of data acquisition principles with majority of the activity focused on software development.
- Knowledge of software design and documentation processes.
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, .NET.
- Knowledge of database architecture and design.
- Familiarity with software development and build tools
- Strong capabilities for organization, decision making, and verbal and written communication.
- Experience with troubleshooting technical problems and providing solutions.
- Ability to travel to the United States, Canada, South Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 35 of the time.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW.
- Experience with C and SQL.
- Experience using Data Acquisition Systems to acquire and analyze data.
- Experience with control systems.
