You will lead the technical engagement of civil and military customers to understand their future product strategies and develop technology roadmaps to ensure GE Aerospace is positioned to win. Your team will execute technology maturation and advanced product development efforts to mature the right capabilities to the right technology and manufacturing readiness levels when the customer RFP comes in. In your role, you will:
- Provide overall engineering leadership of the Advanced Technology Organization. Build and coach a high performing team with the necessary subject matter expertise to exploit emerging technologies and deliver on commitments to the business.
- Lead the customer technical engagement strategy in collaboration with the Product Line and Sales teams.
- Establish direct relationships with customers and regulators to ensure alignment of Avionics strategy to customer future needs, promote acceptance of new technologies and products, and influence customer requirements.
- Own the Multi-Generation Technology Plan (MGTP) to identify, prioritize and fund next-generation technology in support of the Avionics strategy. Ensure alignment to the Multi-Generation Product Plan (MGPP).
- Serve as the Engineering focal point for developing Avionics Long Term Strategy.
- Allocate R&D resources to support the MGTP/MGPP, prioritizing resources to areas of greatest impact.
- Drive execution of technology maturation efforts to ensure Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) for launch of New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Own the New Technology Introduction (NTI) process.
- Collaborate with the Product Line and Sales teams to develop and execute pursuit strategies to successfully capture new opportunities.
- Build an environment where key technologies are seeded with customers ahead of RFI/RFP release.
- Partner with GE Aerospace Research on key technology development.
- Secure external Science & Technology funding to support Avionics technology roadmaps.
- Lead the technical community in assessing competitors, understanding technology market trends, and identifying supplier/partnership opportunities.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronic, software engineering or computer science from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in avionics engineering product development, including at least 6 years of experience in science & technology, program/project, or organizational/people leadership roles.
- Extensive domain expertise in avionics systems integration, hardware, and/or software development.
- This role is restricted to U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
Desired Characteristics
- Master’s degree in electrical, electronic, software engineering or computer science from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience.
- Deep understanding of the avionics market, including customer, competitor and supplier positions in the technology and product strategy spaces.
- Understanding of emerging avionics technologies such as signal processing & sensing, artificial intelligence & machine learning, cybersecurity, or advanced hardware.
- Strong customer mindset. Proven ability to engage with customers, understand their problem statements, and develop strategies to deliver solutions.
- Effective communicator. Viewed as knowledgeable, consultative, and objective.

Preferred location - Grand Rapids, MI but open to Clearwater, FL as well
