Automation Engineer II (Project & Strategy Delivery)
Job Description:

Your work will span technical planning, system integration, validation, capital tracking, ROI and risk analysis, and delivering automation and digital solutions in line with company IT/OT security regulations. You will collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and IT/OT teams and support the site’s inputs to the AERO Global Technology Council.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Roadmap Execution: Support the development and maintenance of the Process Automation & Digital Transformation roadmap for Olomouc and own assigned workstreams (e.g., Precision Machining & Finishing, Custom Automation, Machine Connectivity, Digital Ecosystem).
  • Project Delivery: Plan and execute tasks within projects (approx. 90 on-site, 10 remote collaboration). Manage schedules, deliverables, and documentation; support Management of Change (MOC) under guidance.
  • Requirements & Stakeholders: Collect and translate business requirements (BRs); maintain stakeholder communication and change logs throughout execution.
  • SOW & Vendors: Draft and contribute to Statements of Work (SOWs) for third‑party software/hardware, support vendor selection, FAT/SAT, and acceptance criteria.
  • Concept Validation: Build visualizations/simulations to validate future-state concepts and assess business impact.
  • AOP & Benefits: Execute projects tied to the productivity Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and capture demonstrated business impact (savings, throughput, quality).
  • IT/OT Collaboration: Coordinate with IT/OT on connectivity, cybersecurity, and data teams; follow governance and compliance requirements.
  • Methods & Lean: Apply Lean principles (5S, waste reduction, flow) and standard PM practices; maintain risk registers, RAID logs, and action trackers.

Qualifications

You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Business, Quality, or Supply Chain.
  • Data literacy and business acumen; ability to track capital/expense budgets and perform basic cost/benefit and ROI analysis.
  • Motivation for automation and digitalization in manufacturing and supply chain.
  • Working knowledge in at least one: Robotics, OT Controls (PLC/HMI/SCADA), Full Stack Development, or Process Simulation & Architecture.
  • Interest in technologies such as precision machining, inspection/metrology, AI/analytics, big data, or BI tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, influence, and help drive change across functions.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into executable tasks, deliverables, and milestones.
  • CZ citizenship.

We Value (Preferred)

  • Experience working with third‑party vendors delivering new assets and/or software products; exposure to FAT/SAT and acceptance testing.
  • Exposure to strategy deployment and capital project management.
  • Experience with Plant Simulation (e.g., Siemens) or similar tools; basic CAD or digital process modeling a plus.
  • Background in high‑mix/low‑volume manufacturing; aerospace supply chain experience preferred.
  • Experience with software/OT project management; familiarity with tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Azure Boards.
  • Ability to collaborate with IT/OT on infrastructure, networking, and security; familiarity with OPC UA, MQTT, edge/SCADA concepts.
  • Experience with IIoT, data structuring, and data visualization (e.g., Power BI/Tableau).
  • Lean/Six Sigma training (e.g., Green Belt); ability to contribute to PMAP, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Professional proficiency in Czech and English.

Work Model

  • Location: Olomouc (on‑site primary).
  • Collaboration: Cross‑functional partnership with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and IT/OT; occasional travel to vendors or within EMEA (~10 as required).
