The Boeing Company is looking for an Associate Fire Protection Engineer to join the team in Berkeley, MO or North Charleston, SC.
This position is part of a central team which works with Boeing employees to assist in safe construction and operations using codes, policies, and procedures. Individuals serving on this team are driven self-starters, who work independently to achieve the common goal of protecting others.
The Enterprise Fire Protection Engineer ensures compliance with consensus codes, standards, internal policy procedures, and underwriting data sheets to minimize the impact of potential losses, maintain compliance with requirements, and protect people, property, and the environment.
Position Responsibilities:
Performs fire protection and special hazard analyses (e.g., hydraulic calculations, code research and interpretation, flammable liquids, combustible dust, rack storage)
Negotiates with local building and fire agencies and conducting fire system tests/evaluations and working with insurance partners to implement best loss prevention practices and minimize business interruption
Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures
Performs general fire protection and special hazard analyses
Conducts fire inspections and systems tests
Develops and revises company standards, processes and procedures
Provides guidance and prescribes solutions by providing fire protection engineering expertise (e.g., projects, risk analysis and recommendations, other internal/external customer support)
Investigates, evaluates, and tracks fire protection related losses (e.g., trend analysis and loss limitation recommendations) to minimize the risks and effects of potential losses
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Experience working with Fire Protection Engineering or Technology, either through education or field experience
Experience completing process oriented tasks accurately and in an organized manner
Experience with national fire codes and standards
Experience conducting inspection and testing fire protection equipment (Building sprinkler systems, Fire Extinguishers, Fire Alarm Systems, Code/Policy violations, etc.)
Capable to travel 25 of the time
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelors and 5, or more years’ experience, Masters degree with 3, or more, years’ experience or PhD degree with experience from an ABET or similar accredited school in the field of fire protection engineering
Professional licensure in the country of residency
3+ years of experience in code consulting, fire protection equipment design or project management
Experience with the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Project
Experience working in high-challenge fire environments which includes experience with hazards such as: combustible dust, ignitable liquids, rack storage, and hazardous materials

Summary pay range: $73,950 - $100,050
