Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for an Airworthiness Engineering Director 2 that provides strategic leadership and direction for the Airworthiness & Weapon System Cybersecurity (AW/WSC) functions, ensuring alignment with the organization’s overall goals and objectives, and positions Northrop Grumman as the industry leader for trusted products.
The AW/WSC executive is responsible for overseeing and verifying compliance of all aspects of airworthiness, including maintenance, compliance with regulations, and continued and continuing airworthiness. The leader will be responsible for managing the organization’s engineering success and providing oversight and leadership to a multi-disciplinary Engineering team of matrixed engineers. This leadership position is based in Melbourne, FL.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement long-range strategic plans for the airworthiness function
- Develop and manage the budget for the airworthiness function, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to support operations and strategic initiatives.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the airworthiness and WSC team, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Effectively communicate with senior management, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders on airworthiness and WSC-related matters
- Identify and assess potential risks related to airworthiness and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related professional and/or military experience, OR a master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related professional and/or military experience.
- 6 years of experience as a technical leader
- Management experience of large multifunctional engineering teams
- Must have an active DoD secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment
- Ability to travel 50 Including international
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Department of Defense (DOD) Top Secret Clearance
- Advanced degree(s) in Engineering or Business/Management
- Understanding of business processes and working knowledge of business systems
Salary Range: $203,000.00 - $304,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
