Airworthiness Engineer Specialist III in GAC Savannah
Unique Skills:
DUTIES: Be responsible for the successful planning and completion of a variety of engineering and supportive tasks associated with the Compliance Assurance Organization, Organization Designation Authority, FAA, EASA, and other foreign civil aviation authorities. Lead, generate, process, and support the review of engineering documentation required for certification programs from project start to closure. Support early engagement activities with the FAA for new aircraft concepts and innovative technologies. Work with engineering and ODA Engineering Authorized Representatives (EAR) to develop regulatory gap analyses and prepare material, including white papers and presentations. Support discussions with authorities to develop a pathway to certification for new concepts and technologies. Interface with innovation and new programs, advanced flight deck, and advanced aircraft systems organizations within Innovation, Engineering, and Flight (IEF). Serve as CAO point of contact with the FAA and EASA for innovation projects. Review and approve group deliverables (i.e., certification plans, summary compliance reports, correspondence, noise data sheets). Make authoritative decisions and recommendations for problem solution through application of advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts in areas where engineering precedents are lacking. Serve as a recognized leader and an authority in multiple areas of certification. Present certification requirement recommendations to multi-disciplinary design teams and upper management. Research and determine impact of NPRMs or potential changes to guidance material (industry or regulatory) to apply to future design development. Recommend strategy for group processes, tools, deliverables, and responsibilities. Develop and present briefings on certification strategy and status to organization leadership and regulatory authorities as assigned. Develop work methods and standard operating procedures for certification methods, processes, and tools. Recommend improvements to existing processes. Author issue papers and assist in preparation of applicant response. Participate in industry conferences, working groups, and/or committees related to aviation certification as assigned. Utilize delegated authorities under the Gulfstream ODA (i.e., Engineering Authorized Representative, Alternate Administrator) as applicable. Participate in FCAA validation activities and reviews of deliverables as a Subject Matter Expert. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering, Space Studies, or a related engineering field required. Thirteen years of certification experience in job offered or related engineering position required, including any experience with: FAA Orders 8110.4 and 8110.15; developing certification strategies for novel products; verifying aircraft design compliance; managing airworthiness of in-service fleets and test vehicles; and designing aerospace systems and components. In lieu of a Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering, Space Studies, or a related engineering field and thirteen years of certification experience, Employer will accept a Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering, Space Studies, or a related engineering field and eleven years of the above-listed experience or a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Space Studies, or a related engineering field and nine years of the above-listed experience. Up to 25 national and international travel required.
Must have legal authority to work in the U.S. EEOE.

Bachelor's Degree in a discipline relevant to the position required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 13 years specific certification experience or 18 years broad engineering experience. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters, 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job.

Other Requirements:
- Broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge in certification.
- In-depth knowledge of FAA Orders 8110.4, 8100.15, and Gulfstream ODA Procedures Manual.
- Understands GAC safety system.
