STS Technical Services is hiring Aircraft Structural Design Engineers in Greensboro, North Carolina. This role is integral to the design and development of primary and secondary metallic and composite aircraft structures, contributing to innovative aviation projects that meet certification and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop structural layouts and concepts for primary and secondary aircraft structures.
- Perform load path analysis and initial stress calculations to optimize structural design.
- Design aircraft structures to meet certification requirements and performance standards.
- Collaborate with Integrated Product Teams, including systems engineering, manufacturing, production, and quality.
- Conduct design reviews and presentations on structural elements.
- Interface with vendors and suppliers as necessary.
- Ensure program adherence to schedules and cost targets.
- Select materials and standards in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience required.
- Proficiency in CATIA v5 or equivalent 3D modeling tools and Teamcenter or equivalent PLM tools.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft structures design and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience in structural design for Part 23 or 25 certification standards.
- Familiarity with composite part design and the CATIA CPD module.
- Desired experience with CATIA kinematics and FEM modules.
- Ability to integrate systems and manage suppliers effectively.
- Demonstrated technical communication skills and proficiency in writing technical requirements.

- Meet program schedules and deliverable deadlines with high-quality, first-time designs.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure requirements are met.
- Take ownership of tasks from concept to final design execution.
- Achieve program targets for both recurring and non-recurring costs.
- Conduct trade studies to enhance aircraft performance measures.
Working Conditions
- Office-based work with prolonged periods of computer use.
- Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
- Access and inspect all areas of the aircraft as needed.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for business needs.
