Job Description SummaryAs an Advanced Coatings Lead Engineer/Technologist, you will work in the Coatings Operation and Application Technology Lab leading projects focused on the development, optimization, and industrialization of coatings manufacturing processes for current and future engine programs. This is a hands-on role that will require you to collaborate with Engineering and Supply Chain teams to impact short-term and long-term business goals.

Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities:

  • Lead development, industrialization, and production support projects focused on coatings technology for current and future engine designs
  • Lead and support coating application processes for coupons and prototype/low rate production hardware in the lab, as well as, industrialization and full rate production efforts in Supply Chain shops
  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned individual and team projects using sound engineering principles while adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/ program requirements
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting assigned projects
  • Work collaboratively across multiple organizations to complete assigned projects
  • Implement plans with guidance to meet technical requirements of assigned components and systems
  • Develop and execute action plans with guidance to respond to issues/problems
  • Lead and participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
  • Recommend, with guidance, the approach to meet technical and program requirements
  • Participate, present, and provide feedback using your experience and expertise in technical and program reviews
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/ or task consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments and coordinate tasks necessary to overcome issues

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Engineering)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Engineering position

Desired Characteristics:

  • Bachelor of Science or graduate degree in Material Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college 
  • At least 7 years experience in an engineering position
  • Knowledge and experience with aerospace coatings, chemical processes, and/or special process quality systems
  • Strong technical aptitude related to manufacturing equipment and/or tooling design and build
  • Desire to work safely in a hands-on environment to execute assigned projects
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs using established project management skills
  • Desire to continue to grow individual skills and supports growth within the team
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams
  • Ability to lead initiatives with moderate scope and impact
