Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects, with guidance from senior engineering resources, using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
Have high levels of interaction with and exposure to engineers from multiple disciplines, manufacturing & quality, and regularly exposed to commodity and industry experts all while promoting open and honest dialogue.
Provide engineering support for GE Aerospace engine hardware.
Lead technical projects with low to moderate complexity through collaboration with field and industry experts.
Conduct stress and life analyses in support of: engine certifications and qualifications, design optimization to meet life goals, failure investigations and test capability assessment of engine hardware
Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE Aerospace Engineering customers.
Document technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks.
Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Graduated from Mechanical, Aeronautical, Metallurgical or closely related Engineering Departments of accredited universities. (post graduate degree is a plus).
7+ years of experience in a design engineering role.
Good knowledge of fundamental mechanical design concepts, mechanics of materials, design hand calculations
Have strong engineering outlook, hands-on engineering foundation and eager to learn
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Desired Characteristics:
Analytical thinking skills
Experience with CAE (Ansys) and CAD (Unigraphics) software
Computer proficiency and familiarity with design, test and analysis tools
Experience in areas such as aviation, gas turbine or internal combustion engine design and analysis
Experience with GD&T
Established project management skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally.
Proven self-starter and independent worker who can work with and/or lead cross-functional teams
Strong interpersonal skills, which enable a learning approach to problem resolution
Ability to perform multi-task assignments effectively
