2026 Internship - Maintenance Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:
Interns will work as a part of our Maintenance Engineering team providing technical direction for equipment and machinery installation and maintenance to optimize production. Candidates will play a crucial part in solving complex engineering problems involving Textron Aviation maintenance, processes, systems, and specialized equipment. Interns will be involved with multiple projects that will provide exposure to many of Textron Aviations Wichita campuses in order to develop creative and innovative solutions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilize Textron Aviation Asset Management system including preventative maintenance development/updating and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting/monitoring
Conduct equipment and economic evaluations, develop cost estimates and schedules, and provide progress status
Assist with implementation of capital projects per approved budget
Routine contact and oversight of vendors, contractors, and consultants
Assist with root cause analysis and provide solutions to technical problems
Support energy conservation projects
Assist with annual and long-range strategic planning to address equipment replacement, reliability, and maintainability process improvements and automation
Comply with safety culture and practices including support of mandatory inspections to meet federal, state and local regulatory requirements
Qualifications
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
Pursuing a Bachelors Degree in:
Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering
Reliability and Maintainability Engineering
Manufacturing Engineering
Mechatronics
Other related fields
QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational, time, priority setting, and project management skills
Sharp eye for detail
Great analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience in mechanical/electrical devices, basic controller/processor and programming preferred
Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.
Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks.Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
