Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate DMS Engineer/DMS Systems Engineer.  This position will be located at our Aeronautics Systems sector in Palmdale, CA, Redondo Beach, CA, El Segundo, CA, or Rancho Bernardo (San Diego), CA.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Product Support Organization.

The selected candidate will perform system and component level Lifecycle Management Engineering activities across multiple projects.
 
The candidate will focus on systems affected by obsolescence and/or Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) issues and lead/integrate mitigation activities to ensure a solution is in place before contractual requirements are impacted.

The selected candidate will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Other duties include:

  • Responsible for research and/or product development in more than one engineering discipline.

  • Perform operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis.

  • Gather, collect, record, track, and verify data from multiple sources and maintain mitigation records.

  • Lead obsolescence mitigation activities including scheduling meetings, briefings, and discussion topics; preparation of agendas and meeting minutes. Participate in working groups and ad hoc committees/meetings.

  • Analyze and predict production and sustainment requirements to construct strategic obsolescence roadmaps for end-of life subsystems and components. Information to consider includes reliability, spares posture, technology insertion roadmap, supplier’s capabilities, and customer concurrence.

  • Engage senior management to ensure coordination and integration of DMS resolution activities.

  • Work with suppliers to ensure obsolescence issues are resolved at the lowest cost while maintaining high quality and reliability.
    Assist in developing program metrics for evaluating the effectiveness of obsolescence mitigation activities.

  • Identify and pursue process improvements.

  • Organize, integrate, and lead group projects that aggregates obsolescence data into a system view.

Basic Qualifications for an Associate DMS Engineer (T01)

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below

criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be completing or has completed their Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

  • Be majoring in or having majored in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.

  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite). Final approved U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special Access may be required to start.

  • Must be familiar with MS Excel (extensive formula calculations, pivot tables/charts, macros, etc.)

Basic Qualifications for an DMS Engineer (T02)

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be completing or has completed their Master’s degree OR Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.

  • Be majoring in or having majored in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.

  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).  Final approved U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special Access may be required to start.

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel (extensive formula calculations, pivot tables/charts, macros, etc.)

  • Familiar with Proactive Obsolescence management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.

  • Previous internship/co-op or other work experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)

  • Previous project management experience.

  • Familiarity with Silicon Expert.

  • Oracle and Python experience.

Pay Range

  • Associate DMS Engineer: $67,400.00- $101,000.00

  • DMS Engineer: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
