What You Will Do:
Pratt and Whitney’s Measurement Center is looking for an electronics technician who will be responsible for building and operating critical electronic test systems for military and commercial jet engines. This is an exciting and dynamic opportunity which directly supports the development and flight certification of Pratt and Whitney’s current and future products.
The Rotating Measurements Group (RMG) owns and delivers world-class systems for the toughest data recording trials. You will be responsible for building and testing circuit boards, fabricating telemetry packages/supporting lab equipment, running experiments to ensure survivability of components, and operating consoles at engine tests.
In addition to the main operations role, the RMG has a constant commitment to refining its processes, tools, and skillsets. Team members participate in and own a variety of ‘maker’-style lab development projects which directly impact the group’s operational activities. You are encouraged to take ownership by using creativity and ingenuity to tackle these tasks. Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation, setup, and operation of specialized telemetry systems used to verify the structural and thermal responses of gas turbine engines.
- Requirements will focus on circuit board fabrication, electronic component testing, telemetry package fabrication, support of telemetry package installations at engine assembly, test stand setup, and system calibration.
- Fabrication with small hand tools (such as crimping tools, wrenches, small screw drivers and wire cutters and soldering irons) and electronics wiring and troubleshooting.
- This position involves a high degree of interaction with team members as well as test engineering and operations groups, requiring effective organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Configure and operate telemetry readout equipment during live jet engine testing.
- Flexibility to work overtime and on second shift from time to time as demands of the business dictate.
- Flexibility to travel to other facilities and P&W locations as demands of the business dictate. (Typical durations at other facilities may be 2 to 3 weeks for each travel occurrence)
Qualifications You Must Have:
- HS Diploma with 8 years of technical electronic experienor AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of technical electronics experience
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications we Prefer:
- Practical knowledge in analog and digital electronics
- Associates degree in Electronics Engineering
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills with proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to prototype electronic circuits and solder with a high level of proficiency.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues and follow a detailed process.
- Experienced with microscope-assisted circuit board assembly (through hole and surface mount components

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
This position is open to internal applicants only within Pratt & Whitney. To help shore up our military programs, we are looking to reallocate resources to USG direct charging roles and therefore consider this to be an internal to Pratt movement. We may look to open these opportunities upon more broadly once we complete the initial Pratt talent moves.
The salary range for this role is 44,000 USD - 102,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
