Spirit Aeronautics is a hybrid Maintenance and Avionics shop located in the Signature FBO at CMH, and is seeking an experienced Lead Avionics Technician to oversee and execute advanced avionics installations, troubleshooting, and inspections on corporate aircraft. This role requires expertise in avionics systems such as Collins Pro Line, Honeywell Primus, Garmin flight decks, and GoGo Air to Ground Systems, as well as a strong understanding of business-class jets, including Challenger, Learjet, Citation, Falcon, and Embraer models.
The ideal candidate will lead installation projects, mentor junior technicians, coordinate with maintenance teams, and ensure compliance with FAA regulations. JOB DUTIES:
- Reports directly to the Avionics Manager, providing regular project updates and coordinating task assignments to ensure timely completion of avionics installation and maintenance projects.
- Exhibits critical thinking and problem-solving skills, working independently while also leading and overseeing installation projects and troubleshooting activities, ensuring timely completion of project milestones.
- Mentors and trains newer technicians on processes and tasks related to avionics installation and troubleshooting.
- Works closely with structural and maintenance teams during installations to ensure seamless coordination and minimize workflow disruptions.
- Demonstrates strong familiarity and a solid understanding of the avionics systems in various models of business-class jets, including but not limited to Bombardier Challenger Series, Lear 35/40/45 Series, Cessna Citation Series, Embraer Legacy/Phenom/Praetor Series, Dassault Falcons, and Hawker 400/800 Series.
- Possesses a high degree of installation/troubleshooting expertise in a variety of avionics systems and equipment, including, but not limited to, Collins Pro Line 4, 21, and Fusion, Honeywell Primus 1000, 2000, and Epic, and Garmin G500/600, G1000, and G5000 flight decks and GoGo Air to Ground Systems.
- Installs, configures, functionally tests, and troubleshoots new and/or existing avionics equipment, instrument and static system components, and electrical systems on business and corporate aircraft.
- Interprets aircraft system drawings, wiring diagrams, maintenance manuals, blueprints, and certification paperwork.
- Builds/installs new aircraft wiring harnesses and repairs and/or replaces existing aircraft wiring and associated connectors.
- Utilizes a range of avionics test equipment to perform operational and functional checks on aircraft systems.
- Uses a laser wire marker to print and label wires for upcoming installation projects, ensuring accurate identification and organization for efficient assembly.
- Performs scheduled/unscheduled inspections, including but not limited to, RVSM certifications, 91.411/91.413, and ELT checks.
- Utilizes Corridor Aviation Service Software to track work order progress, manage parts, wire, and time, and generate aircraft logbook entries.
- Adheres to established company policies and procedures set in RSM/QCM, as well as applicable FAA regulatory guidelines.
