Northrop Grummans Enterprise Insights & Analytics (EI&A) organization is seeking an experienced data scientist to our People Analytics organization. This position will report to the Manager, Advanced Analytics & Products, People Analytics.
This role will sit in our Falls Church, VA location but we may also consider a hybrid or teleworker arrangement for this position.
At Northrop Grumman, People Analytics is a core domain within our Enterprise Insights & Analytics (EI&A) organization. EI&A is a team of strategic analysts, scientists, engineers, and technologists who use science, research and data to identify strategic insights and create innovative analytic solutions for our business.
As a data scientist, you will be responsible for developing and scaling models to approximate our complex workforce and ultimately help answer “what if…?” questions. Through these efforts, you will enable HR leaders and business partners to make informed decisions across multiple areas of human capital including, but not limited to talent acquisition, culture, talent management, compensation and retention.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Develop statistical and machine learning models with a modeling & simulation lens to help quantify and reduce future uncertainty across various scenarios
Build well-structured and understandable code to enable smooth collaboration across the team and successful model deployment
Serve as a trusted technical expert who can offer informed guidance on methodology or technology decisions and communicate core requirements to our technology teams
Mentor junior team members by providing guidance on best practices in data science
Stay abreast of industry trends and methodologies and contribute innovative ideas to drive business value
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related professional experience - OR - a Master’s degree with 6+ years of related professional experience - OR – a PhD with 4+ years of relevant experience.
Understanding of (or interest in) HR domain areas and metrics (such as talent acquisition, compensation, performance, learning and development, and HR metrics).
Deep foundational knowledge of statistical modeling and machine learning concepts
Expertise with Python (at least 5 years)
Proficiency with data transformation using SQL or similar data querying language
Experience using version software control (e.g. git) with a team of collaborators
Experience using cloud-based data science tools – i.e. AWS, Azure, DataBricks, Spark/PySpark
Fluency in translating business problems into questions that can be answered via analytic methods
Experience collaborating on projects with multiple teams, managing relationships, and communicating findings to audiences
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in a quantitative field (engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science, etc.) is preferred
Experience with Monte Carlo simulation, time series modeling, or probabilistic modeling
Proven experience putting models into production
Salary Range: $137,400 - $206,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
