The Boeing Company seeks a Senior Communications Specialist based at its headquarters in Arlington, VA., to be a key member of the Public Affairs and Advocacy Communications team and work closely with Government Operations, especially the company’s Executive Vice President of Government Operations, Global Public Policy and Corporate Strategy.
The successful applicant will be able to write clearly and creatively, and translate those words into other communications channels as needed; understand government policy, especially in Washington, but also abroad, and how it interplays with industry; and demonstrate an ability to quickly learn about all aspects of Boeing’s entire business. The position is at a grade that requires judgement, discretion and initiative, and an ability to work with colleagues at all levels and locations.
Position Responsibilities:
Serves as the primary Communications interface with the Executive Vice President’s front office, helping to identify opportunities and draft materials for engagements, both internal and external
Develops frequent and creative content in support of the Boeing Political Action Committee to increase the number of participants and enhance its effectiveness
Works closely with other members of the Communications team and third parties to create advocacy campaigns tied to policy outcomes imperative to the company
Provides communications counsel to members of the Government Operations team and advises Communications colleagues across the country and globe on how their plans and materials might affect Boeing’s reputation and aims with government agencies and leaders
Builds and maintains relationships in Washington that are relevant to Boeing’s operations and policy needs
Serves as a trusted Communications partner for the employees in the Arlington office, ready to assist in the frequent and high-profile events that happen there and in the broader National Capital Region
Collaborates across multiple teams as is common within a large, matrixed organization
The selected candidate must be based at Boeing’s headquarters in Arlington, VA. Ability to work in the office five days a week, with some flexibility.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree or higher
5+ years of experience in public affairs or corporate communications
Experience with media relations
Experience working on federal, state and local public policy issues
Strong writing and editing skills, with attention to detail (deliverables such as speeches, talking points, news releases, statements, etc.)
Excellent verbal communication and presentation abilities
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Government experience, especially Capitol Hill
Aerospace industry experience
Proficiency in digital communication tools

Summary pay range: $133,450 - $180,550
