Job Overview:
The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for supporting the requirements gathering and documentation for Airports API (Kiosk Application, Lounge entry and Check-in API) and Self-bag drop applications. They will work with the Product Manager – IT Airport Applications and the Digital Product Manager and Owners who support Digital Check In (DCI), Kiosk and Self-bag drop (SBD), internal IT groups, UAT/QA testing teams, and partner vendors. Additionally, the Senior Business Analyst will work with the pertinent development and QA teams to gather estimates on requirement deliverables. They are responsible for creating Azure DevOps Stories, Acceptance Criteria and maintaining project artifacts such as business requirements documents and project schedules.
Key deliverables include:
- Work on Airports API/SBD sprints and/or projects prioritized and assigned by the Product Owner and Product Manager - Airport Applications (TL). This may include work on other applications as required.
- Review requirements with the Airports API Development/QA teams to complete estimates of CI API development activities and communicate to the PM and pertinent Guest Experience Application Analysts.
- Ensure that analysis activities including, determination of the business opportunity and documentation/communication of requirements are suitable and complete for the initiative to meet the objective.
- Convert high-level business requirements into functional requirements by applying appropriate techniques (use cases, requirement workshops, etc.).
- Work closely with the QA and UAT testing teams to provide support for requirement clarifications.
- Work closely with the Development, QA and UAT testing teams to create workback plans.
- Create and maintain product artifacts such as process flows, BRDs, Jira cards, use cases, Azure cards, project plans, etc.
- Understand the generally accepted practices for business analysis and requirements documentation within the company.
Experience and qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in an IT or systems focused environment.
- Post-secondary diploma, degree and/or courses in related field or equivalent work experience.
- Possess a keen attention to detail with the ability to understand the big picture.
- Ability to stay focused while balancing requests from multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
- Proficient in agile development methodology is asset.
- Proven ability to work with technical systems and various teams across IT and the business.
- Demonstrated abilities in conceptual and analytical thinking, problem solving, facilitation, and elicitation of requirements.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment, with a proven ability to deal with ambiguity and change.
- Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills.
- Awareness of the BABOK® Guide’s generally accepted practices for business analysis is an asset.
- An understanding of WestJet’s of Digital Check-In, Kiosk and Self-bag drop applications is an asset
- Additions: Ability to translate business requirements into user stories for development.
- Ability to write acceptance criteria in the user stories.
- Ability to work with and communicate with business stakeholders if needed to define acceptance criteria.
- Communication with developers, QAs, and the business
