Job Summary
Responsible for supporting a variety of Human Resource and Environmental Health & Safety functions in partnership to business unit or campus. This role reports within the Environmental Health and Safety department with split oversite and guidance from the Human Resources team. Provides support for EHS Team members and other stakeholders in functional areas of EHS including, but not limited to employee relations, safety concerns, workers compensation, hazardous waste management, drug & alcohol policies, and injury response. This role also provides support for Human Resources Business Partners in functional areas of human resources including, but not limited to employee relations, talent management, talent acquisition, and total rewards. Facilitates and communicates organizational policies and programs and ensures labor law and regulatory compliance.
This role is included in a family of positions including EHS Specialist, EHS Lead Specialist and Sr. EHS Lead. Employees are placed based on organizational need, employees level of experience, and competency within the role. This position reports to designated EHS Director based in Duluth.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Supports communication to employees and ensures compliance with EHS and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Supports communication to employees regarding payroll, benefits, leave of absence, and recruitment ensuring compliance with HR policies and practices.
- Provides support and counsel to leaders and employees to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures and practices.
- Coordinate with various levels of leadership and employees to provide advice and counsel on employee issues and/or concerns; If necessary conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations to ensure concerns are appropriately resolved in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates professional behavior and the ability to maintain confidentiality on a variety of topics; understands and exercises good judgement to know when to involve HR Business Partner or leader on more complex or sensitive issues.
- Leads, develops, and participates in company-sponsored activities to support employee engagement.
- Assists with conducting exit interviews to provide visibility regarding turnover.
- Maintains accurate employee records and administrative procedures that comply with company and regulatory guidelines.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with Operations, Managers, Supervisors, and employees.
- Participate in meetings to discuss workplace safety and regulatory concerns and opportunities.
- Outlines and implements training programs to educate and inform on workplace safety.
- Accident prevention, regulations and response.
- Actively supports our mission, vision and core values and demonstrates Cirrus Service Essentials.
- Participates in department meetings and offers suggestions and ideas for process improvement.
- First point of contact to respond to general EHS/HR inquiries or direct to appropriate area, including injury triage, employee concerns, safety issues, incident response and investigation.
- Creates and distributes memos and other communication material as requested.
- Ensures that files, both physical and digital, are created and maintained in accordance with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures.
- Assist with environmental and Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms compliance
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.

- Bachelors degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Human Resource Management or equivalent field preferred
- Minimum two years related experience in Human Resources or Safety
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively manage stress, including competing work demands and multiple projects at the same time.
- Ability to effectively work with others and maintain professional demeanor.
- Exceptional Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Outlook).
- Experience utilizing HRIS preferred
