Overvew of the role:
Reporting to the Product Manager, IT Crew Operations, the Intermediate Systems Analyst is an intermediate level technical resource supporting multiple end user groups and project teams from the Crew Operations business unit. They are primarily engaged in the implementation, support, and sustainment of business application solutions for multiple critical Tier 1 applications. Intermediate Analysts are responsible for incident management, root cause analysis and resolution, as well as project management, and business analysis.
Key deliverables include:
- Participates in the creation of project plans, reports, process flow diagrams, and requirements documentation for projects and initiatives.
- Works with resources from other IT teams, WestJet business units, and application/interface vendors in the delivery of WestJet projects.
- Responsible for delivering effective and timely communications to project/initiative stakeholders (internal and external).
- Required to provide support for Tier 1 Systems, including but not limited to, Crew Management software (scheduling), Crew Planning software (vacations, bidding), Crew Qualification software, Crew Communication software, and Crew Payroll software.
- Coordinate with WS IT teams, WS business units, and external IT groups to diagnose and resolve incidents reported within agreed resolution times.
- Responsible for the documentation of incident resolutions for supported systems.
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of technical documentation for supported systems.
- Required to provide support for UAT/Test and Staging Systems.
- Implement systems changes in accordance with WestJet ITSM policies and procedures.
- Required to maintain an on-call rotation and be highly available (24/7) during on-call periods.
- Required to work outside standard Canadian business hours when engaged on projects/initiatives with IT groups and vendors outside the Americas.
- May be required to work on weekends/holidays during major incidents or major project delivery.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, management information systems, or equivalent through a combination of education and/or experience.
- Proficiency with Windows Server 2016/2019 is an asset
- Proficiency with IIS, Databases, Azure Cloud, Red Hat Linux is an asset, but not required.
- Proficiency with Cloud Service Models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) is an asset.
- Proficiency with workplace tools such as Office 365, MS Visio, MS Project, MS Teams is required.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), are essential in order to interact with vendors, support groups, and business groups.
- Highly organized and able to multitask in a high pressure, fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Experience working in a highly collaborative, team-oriented, environment.
- Solid understanding of ITIL processes and documentation standards.
- 3+ years in relevant technical area.
- Excellent time management skills, ability to manage multiple items.
- Experience troubleshooting issues related to hardware devices like PCs, printers, scanners, etc.
- Familiar with ticketing tools (similar to ServiceNow).
- Ability to take a proactive approach to identify problems, issues, and opportunities.
- Ability to propose solutions and new initiatives.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, accurate, concise, and professional manner, both verbally and in a written format.
- Ability to create and maintain positive relationships with operational leadership, business partners, IT teams, and vendors
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn related technology and business processes.
- Airline IT knowledge is nice to have.
