The Government Affairs team in Westminster is part of Boeing Global. Its job is to monitor the political and policy landscape within the UK, and advocate for Boeing’s wider business objectives and strategy within it.
The team’s principle function is to manage Boeing’s relationship with the UK Government. This includes politicians in the Houses of Parliament and Government departments (e.g. DBT, MOD, DfT). This is done in the most part through advocacy. The team also takes the lead on political and policy-thematic issues that affect Boeing businesses, e.g. defence reform, industrial policy.
This internship will offer a chance for a bright, personable, ambitious and enthusiastic individual to develop an in-depth understanding of UK politics and government and the interaction of it with a major international company.
The applicant’s role and responsibilities will include:
1. Conducting research and analysis to develop a unique intelligence picture of the current and future political landscape. This will inform the Government Affairs Teams strategy and advocacy, across the following subject areas:
2. Support senior leaders with bespoke, ad hoc projects often in support of business capture activities.
3. Support set-piece engagement events, including those in the Houses of Parliament and defence trade shows, such as the Royal International Air Tattoo.
4. The intern will be exposed to the following development opportunities:
Understanding of senior leadership, management, strategy and decision making of an international multi-billion pound company (based in the Head Office, UK)
Understanding of the key issues and challenges of the Defence and Aerospace sector
Developing a comprehensive understanding of the machinations and structures of government
Developing political acumen, and understanding of how the politics-of-the-day impacts on policy
Understanding the interactions of government and business
Developing critical thinking, analysis and judgment skills
Developing influence, political and diplomatic skills
Potential travel to other European capitals
This internship offers a unique opportunity to be in the midst of the senior echelons of a world-leading company, exposed to the very highest levels of political and government decision making.
This internship is for one year, and runs from 1 September 2025 - 28 August 2026.
