Aerovel (The Airbus Helicopters Flexrotor Program) is looking for a Curriculum Development Specialist to join our Technical Training department based in Bingen, WA.
In this role, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of training programs for our Flexrotor Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). The ideal candidate will have a robust background in instructional design, unmanned aerial systems, and military or aviation operations, ensuring our training materials are comprehensive, current, and aligned with both regulatory standards and operational requirements.

The Airbus Helicopters Flexrotor Program offers one of the most advanced small tactical unmanned aerial systems (STUAS) with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). It can be used day or night by US and allied forces for a diverse range of intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) on land and at sea.

Your Challenges:
Primary Responsibilities:
Curriculum Design and Development: 40
Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and skills gap analyses to identify training requirements for the Flexrotor UAS.
Design and develop detailed educational curricula, including course objectives, content outlines, training schedules, and assessment criteria.
Develop engaging and interactive training content utilizing various instructional methodologies, such as simulations, e-learning modules, and hands-on exercises.
Ensure all training materials comply with relevant regulations and standards including alignment with aviation/military standards and protocols, facilitating seamless integration into defense training programs.
Technical & Operational Integration: 20
Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to stay updated on the latest Flexrotor UAS technologies and operational procedures.
Translate complex technical data and operational tactics into accessible training materials for diverse audiences.
Incorporate real-world scenarios and mission-specific tasks into the curriculum to enhance practical application and readiness.
Project Management: 20
Lead cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts (SMEs), instructors, and stakeholders, to gather input and validate course content.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality training materials.
Evaluation and Continuous Improvement: 10
Establish evaluation criteria to assess the effectiveness of training programs and materials.
Collect and analyze feedback from trainees and instructors to identify areas for improvement.
Continuously update training materials to reflect technological advancements, regulatory changes, and operational feedback.

Strong understanding of instructional design models, adult learning principles, and curriculum development methodologies.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and meet deadlines.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and adapt to evolving project requirements.
Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form in English
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
Proficiency in using Learning Management Systems (LMS), Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS), e-learning development tools, and multimedia content creation software.
Demonstrated experience developing training programs for unmanned aerial systems or related aviation fields.
Familiarity with military training standards and experience developing training for military personnel is highly desirable.
Knowledge of FAA regulations and standards related to UAS operations and training.
Preferred:
Masters in Instructional Design
Experience with gamification strategies and modern educational technologies to enhance learner engagement.
Certification in instructional design, such as Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) or similar.

Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Daily
Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily
Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Daily
Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Daily
Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Weekly
Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Weekly
Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Weekly
Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Daily
Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Daily
Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. 10
Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. daily
Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
Successful candidates for this role must have ability to work in the US without current, or future, need of visa sponsorship/work authorization.
Salary range:
Salary range based on the required profile: $87,000 - $134,000/year. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on geographic differential. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
