PURPOSE
To be a reliable and active player in the Accounting and Reporting process (closings, accounting support, monthly, quarterly and year end reports) as well as support to the CFO and Country Accountants.
SUMMARY
Responsible for reviewing and correcting complex accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organization’s financial resources and ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, law, and reporting/analysis requirement for both internal and external stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Data entry of Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet related items daily in QuickBooks and /or other accounting software
- Oversee and reconcile accounts and ensure accuracy of journal entries to ensure general ledger is accurate and complete
- Review and analyze financial information and prepare required financial reports and accounting statements to support the management team with good decision making. This include but not limited to profit and loss statements, revenue, invoice statuses, debtor and creditor lists, repayment schedules, regulatory reports and filings.
- Proactively review and ensure accuracy of all tasks related to the classification of information in the financial statements.
- Assist during implementations that affect the accounting process
- Provide support on key accounting processes (set up of cost centers, new customer set up, billing, centralized control checks and balances, etc.)
- Provide technical accounting advice within area of expertise to functional or operational managers to support the development of revenue and expense, budgets; understand and interpret financial reports, and manage financial responsibilities for the area
- Liaise with operation, suppliers and all parties to gain required information for reporting and entries into the financial statements
- Review general ledger for Adjusting entries
- Review Purchase Orders and Invoices to ensure data entry work is complete monthly
- Financial information: Ensure high quality of the financial statements as well as communicated financial information (i.e. newsletter, group policies, chart of accounts, accounting manual)
- Ad hoc requests: Support the Chief Financial Officer and Accountants
- Internal audit support: Upon need, support the Internal and External Audit teams
- Manage and accurately process invoices based upon contractual terms
- Review all invoice data for variances and resolve any conflicts
- Ensure new vendors and customers are set up correctly in all systems and all processes are followed through and adhered to
- Provide support to the business and customers on billing requests
- Assist in Filing away invoices
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI’S)
- On time data entry (reporting) of finalized figures into Reporting System
- Quality and accuracy of closings (Actual & Budget)
- Updated manuals and documentation
- Implemented improvement suggestions
- Accounting quality across the Swissport Group
- Limitation of recurring findings from local audits
- Invoice Accuracy, Attention to detail
Knowledge of the contracts and their expiry dates
- Billing for all revenue generation sources systematically
- Systems in place to ensure all revenue is billed and invoiced amounts are accurate and in line with contract
- Timely (within 4 hours of completion) remittance of invoices to each customer
- Timely responses to customer or supplier queries
- Consistent communication with operations and revenue auditor to ensure accuracy of billing

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
- University finance degree (or equivalent) / Business informatics education is an advantage
- 2 years of experience in IFRS reporting for Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Intercompany Entries and Month End Analysis and Reporting
- Solid IFRS and consolidation knowledge
- Good IT knowledge (not only applications, but also system architecture etc.)
- Very good English, both verbal and written is a must
- Good knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)
- Ability to work under demanding deadlines (All closing complete in 5 calendar days)
- Communicative and ability to work in team
- Other languages considered an advantage
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak clearly and effectively before employees, customers, and visitors. Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to make decisions and adjustments on short notice
